Happy Snowed-in Holidays!

Share/Bookmark

Happy snowed-in holidays! I’m house-bound at my in-laws’ enjoying the bliss of having nothing to do for a few rare days. I hope everyone’s having a grand week! Our Christmas Eve consisted of the customary seven-fish dinner, complete with shrimp, calamari, baccala, clams, lobster, scallops, and octopus salad. Rice balls and a few other goodies crept into the mix, but no one seemed to mind.

My dad dressed up like Santa for the first time since 1986 for my niece Sofia. She was skeptical at first….

But they warmed up to each other…

And we taught her the fine art of opening presents. She got the hang of it very, very quickly…

I’m quite sure her favorite gift was a Raggedy Ann doll from Crazy Uncle Joe S and me…
In the process, she discovered one of the world’s biggest culinary secrets: wrapping paper is delicious…

…but not nearly as delicious as Scotch tape and gift bows.

To be a kid again!

Happy holidays, everyone. Stay tuned for the last installment of December’s Italian Dessert challenge soon…

A finer seven seafood dinner I've never had!

Sofia would argue that that wrapping paper was much better than any fried fish!
